Making Memories in Downtown during Memorial Day Weekend

Because Memorial Day is a time for commemoration and gratitude, we would like to honor America's military men and women who lost their lives defending our freedom.

Memorial Day is the unofficial start of summer, and Downtown Arlington is the perfect place to celebrate! Great live music, art, food, drinks, and places to gather with family and friends will kick off the holiday weekend in style.

We’ve put together our top five things to do during Memorial Day weekend:

1. Catch amazing free concerts at the Levitt

Live! Outdoors! Free! What better place to come together in Downtown Arlington than the Levitt Pavilion? With three nights worth of diverse live music, the Levitt is continuing its free concert series each night starting at 7:30 p.m.

Friday, May 24: Gary Hobbs with Sabor Puro

Saturday, May 25: Kaitlin Butts with Shelby Stone

Sunday, May 26: Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears with Isaac Sloane and the Sound Brigade

2. Watch dance recitals at Arlington Music Hall

The Arlington Music Hall has a rich history and has always been one of DFW’s gems for live entertainment. Opening in 1950 as a movie theatre, the hall retains its historic integrity on the outside and boasts a modern concert and performance experience on the inside.

Saturday, May 25: Motiv8ion Dance Studio annual recital at 3 p.m.

Sunday, May 26: Momentum Dance Company 16th annual recital with two showtimes

3. Venue-hop for more live music

Downtown Arlington has over ten small live music venues within the official Arlington Cultural District. Ready to discover them all? Memorial Day Weekend is a great time to start! Here are a few choices, and use our website’s searchable directory for all the live music offerings around every corner!

As construction on phase two of Urban Union continues, spend Memorial Day weekend enjoying rock climbing, gourmet pizza, award-winning barbecue, comic books, craft cider, and more.

5. Dive into local history

May is Historic Preservation Month, and many of Arlington's most historic sites are in Downtown and have earned Texas Historical Markers or are designated city landmarks. Click here for a list of destinations to inspire your own self-guided tour.
