Downtown Arlington’s Annual Meeting is back to ‘Walk the Talk’

The Downtown Arlington Management Corporation is officially announcing the date for the 2024 Downtown Arlington Annual Meeting, Presented by Texas Trust! Taking place on September 18th from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., this year’s event is a celebration of the walkability efforts by the Downtown Arlington community and its civic leaders, as well as the future developments working to make downtown a flourishing, walkable area.

The 2024 Downtown Arlington Annual Meeting, Presented by Texas Trust will be held in the University of Texas at Arlington’s Bluebonnet Ballroom, located at 300 W 1st Street, on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The theme for this year’s event, “Walk the Talk,” is inspired by the idea of creating a walkable downtown and putting forth effort to make it happen. This year, the event will feature a renowned keynote speaker sponsored by the Arlington Economic Development Corporation to discuss the theme.

Walkability of an area is a vital attribute of a successful downtown to encourage spending at local businesses and increase property value of local real estate.

Keynote speaker, Christopher Leinberger, is the Co-founding Partner and Managing Director of Places Platform, LLC, a proptech start-up developing an AI-driven data platform encompassing 100% of real estate in the U.S. He is also a land use strategist, real estate developer and researcher among other titles.

“The major trend in American development over the next generation is the urbanization of the suburbs…and there is substantial pent up demand for these walkable urban, mixed-use places, as shown by $/SF price/rental premiums and market share growth,” Leinberger said.

Leinberger balances business realities with social and environmental issues and will be discussing the importance and value of walkability in communities.

"This year’s theme, ‘Walk the Talk,’ is all about working together to ensure downtown is a vibrant walkable area for residents and visitors to enjoy,” said Maggie Campbell,  Downtown Arlington’s President and CEO.

Downtown’s annual awards include “The Dream Builder” Award Presented by Texas Trust for the highest contributions made towards the revitalization of downtown, The Legendary Lionheart for one of downtown’s small businesses that have shown heart and generosity in support of the community, and The Golden Lantern for a community leader or non-profit organization that inspires the community with hope and human touch. These awards will be presented to the deserving winners at the end of the program.

Exciting information about the future of downtown programs, new developments and how you can get involved will be announced.
