Sixty Seconds With Amy Cearnal

What makes Downtown Arlington so special? Community. Our ever-evolving district is made up of entrepreneurs, students, artists, families, volunteers, restaurateurs … and we’re just getting started.

In our “Sixty Seconds” feature, we chat with members of the Downtown Arlington Management Corporation Board of Directors, a group that’s been instrumental in envisioning, encouraging and driving Downtown’s vitality.

Today, meet Amy Cearnal.

Amy CearnalDAMC role: Incoming Board Chair

Day job: Owner and broker, CearnalCo

Downtown Arlington:  What was your very first job?

Amy Cearnal:  Campo Verde, baby! Their cheese sauce is delish.

DA:  If you could invite four people to a dinner party (non-family, living or deceased), who would they be?

AC:  Jesus, Martha Stewart, Snoop Dogg and Elon Musk

DA:  If money was no object, what is one thing you’d do to further the revitalization of Downtown Arlington?

AC:   I see charm in its history. When I look at the district through fresh eyes, I would also love to see more investment in infrastructure. That would help property values rise, which would encourage new development to further enhance the Downtown experience.

DA:  What advice would you give someone who just moved to Arlington?

AC:   Join a church. That’s the easiest way to create stability, get involved, make friends, and start figuring out what other areas you might want to serve the Arlington community.

DA:  Which Arlington schools did you attend and what’s your claim to fame?

AC:  South Davis/Key, Gunn, and Arlington High. I was the smart kid that didn’t get in trouble… much.

DA:  What’s your favorite Arlington tradition and why?

AC:  I think there’s a lot of truth in How Sweet It Is to Be in Colt Country. #the013 is not just a place, though. It’s the people. And I love that we can hang out and work so close by in Downtown!
