Mavs Bar and Grill caters to sports fans, families
By Joel Cooley
Mavericks Bar and Grill offers a welcoming, laid-back environment for sports lovers of all ages and appetites.
Located right off of Abrams Street, Mavericks—often referred to as Mavs—is close to destinations such as Cowboys Stadium and The Ballpark at Arlington.
Many fans find themselves at Mavs watching various sporting events so they can enjoy a sports bar experience as close to the game as they can get without attending. Mavs also provides a shuttle service to and from the stadiums.
In addition, Mavs caters to the sports fan with two pool tables, a fooseball table and Golden Tee and Big Buck Hunter arcade games available for the avid golfer and hunter.
The full-service restaurant and bar offers a wide range of dishes and beverages. During the day it is a welcome getaway for college students and businessmen and women who seek a relaxing, quiet place to grab a bite to eat or have a cocktail.
College students in particular frequent on Wednesday night for their “Dollar beer” domestic draft special. This special also runs on Tuesday and Thursday.
“The sports bar atmosphere really takes over at nighttime and the family friendly environment draws in a younger, more family oriented crowd during the day,” said Kyla Johnson, a bartender who has been with Mavs for two years. “College students are attracted to the fresh food, the college atmosphere and the cheap drinks.”
As a family friendly environment, Mavs offers a kids menu. The venue also hosts birthday parties, business events, high school reunions and fraternity and sorority events as well as private parties.
