Stronger Together: Downtown Delivers Bar and Restaurant Takeout, Curbside, Delivery and Other Services
As a part of ongoing efforts to support the local business community throughout the international COVID-19 (novel coronavirus) crisis, today Downtown Arlington launched Downtown Delivers.
Downtown Delivers is an online platform for Downtown Arlington bar and restaurant partners to quickly communicate their current operating models. Through this platform, customers can then immediately find information and make informed purchasing decisions in support of their favorite Downtown dining destinations. In addition to providing a business overview, directions and contact information, Downtown Delivers identifies those dining partners that are currently offering to-go ordering, curbside pick-up and/or delivery options.

Responsive and Comprehensive
Two of the most powerful features of Downtown Delivers are that it is both responsive and comprehensive. Every business has control over its own content, so just as soon as operational decisions are made, information can be immediately updated and shared. And because Downtown Delivers covers the entire Downtown Arlington district, customers have a single source for up-to-date information.
Maggie Campbell, President and CEO of Downtown Arlington Management Corporation, said that Downtown Delivers represents the strength of the business community within Downtown Arlington. “Downtown Delivers really takes us back to the basics of good community building. It provides a clear and simple way for our community to communicate with each other so we can all support one another.”
Taking It to the Streets
For a number of Downtown dining destinations, operations have switched from dine-in to a combination of carry-out, delivery or to-go services.
J. Gilligan’s Bar and Grill and J.R. Bentley’s gear up every year for St. Patrick’s Day, and 2020 was no different. With the last-minute cancellation of their celebrations, however, the two are looking at a whole lot of potatoes for Irish Nachos and pots of beef stew. So both restaurants announced today that they’ll be offering to-go ordering and curbside pick-up to customers longing for their favorite St. Patty’s Day flavors.
As of this posting, the following restaurants that have announced either a combination of carry-out, delivery, and to-go services on a trial or temporary basis:
• Cartel Taco Bar
• Grease Monkey Burger and Social Club
• Inspirations Catering
“This is the beauty of a platform like Downtown Delivers,” said Campbell. “It provides a nimble form of communication for our businesses and a one-stop shop for Downtown Arlington patrons.”

Safety First
A critical part of halting the spread of COVID-19 is public adherence to “social distancing,” which is a term coined by public health officials to stop or slow down the spread of a highly contagious disease.
These recommended and necessary restrictions on public gathering places, workplace norms, and mobility have forced Downtown bars and restaurants to close temporarily or rethink their daily operations. Those venues that remain open continue to vigilantly ensure their spaces are clean and safe for their customers. By utilizing Downtown Delivers, customers can identify and patronize those businesses who are working so hard to keep their doors open and their employees employed.
