Downtown Arlington Schedules the 2023 Downtown Arlington Annual Meeting, Presented by Texas Trust for September 20, 2023

The Downtown Arlington Management Corporation announces the date for the “2023 Downtown Arlington Annual Meeting, Presented by Texas Trust.” Taking place on September 20th from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., this year’s event is a celebration of the boundless creativity embodied by the Downtown Arlington community and its civic leaders through its history, as well as the future developments working to make downtown a flourishing destination.

The 2023 Downtown Arlington Annual Meeting, Presented by Texas Trust will be held in the University of Texas at Arlington’s Bluebonnet Ballroom, located at 300 W 1st Street, on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The theme for this year’s event, “Oh, the Places You’ll Make,” is heavily inspired by the whimsical artistry of Dr. Seuss as an homage to the imagination and vision required in placemaking and city planning. Tables are available to purchase as of today; click here for more information on attending on the program.

Placemaking has continued to be a driving force in the success of Downtown Arlington for decades. Many of the institutions found in downtown today are a direct result of the community pooling together their collective imaginations to craft something special.

“Since Downtown Arlington was founded in 2006, placemaking has informed the design and implementation of several projects around the city,” said Maggie Campbell, President and CEO of Downtown Arlington. “From the opening of the Levitt Pavilion to the Front Street adaptive reuse project known today as Urban Union, placemaking has shaped downtown into a unique, people-centric community, drawing in millions of visitors each year.”

The Downtown Arlington Annual Meeting is the perfect opportunity for you or your organization to engage in the conversations that are influencing the city around you and learn how to amplify the impact of your business though placemaking. Hundreds of Arlington’s leaders, developers, and business owners gather in one place to honor the city’s history, discuss the vitality of downtown, and network with like-minded individuals from their respective fields.

Along with the fun and imaginative theme, this year’s program includes a keynote presentation from Nate Storring, Co-CEO of Project for Public Spaces, a world-renowned non-profit dedicated to partnering with communities to establish public spaces that uplift, connect, and strengthen community values.

After adding placemaking to their strategic work plan and receiving a $75,000 grant from Project for Public Spaces and General Motors, Downtown Arlington is exploring more avenues for integrating the principles of placemaking into their everyday practices through events, programming, and the development of new communal gathering spaces.

“The success of a community is heavily dependent on the culture you establish there,” said Campbell. “Placemaking, along with our annual meetings, allows us to foster a culture of connectivity and celebrate our progress towards a vibrant, walkable downtown that brings our community together.”

The event concludes as Downtown honors select hardworking community members with the presentation of the “Legendary Lionheart Award,” “Golden Lantern Award,” and the pinnacle “Dream Builder Award, presented by Texas Trust.”

Individual tickets go on sale on September 4th, so be sure to follow Downtown Arlington on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter and sign up for the Downtown newsletter for updates and information on the event.
