DAMC Announces Funding Cycles for Façade Improvement Grants and Sponsorships
We love our job! Not only do we at Downtown Arlington Management Corporation (DAMC) get to spend every day in one of Trip Advisor’s 2016 “Awesome Urban Districts Exploding with Character,” but we get to work alongside property owners, investors, cultural partners, residents and community leaders who also love our downtown. Together, we’re dedicated to enhancing its economic vigor, spirit of innovation, and vibrant sense of place.
“The revitalization of Downtown Arlington is a team effort,” said Aldo Fritz, DAMC president and CEO. “There are entrepreneurs, educational and government institutions, cultural entities and non-profit organizations all trying to do the same thing: create community. Through the allocation of grants, DAMC serves as a catalyst to pool resources, deepen partnerships, and provide assistance to start up a business, beautify a building, or jump-start an event that will help create the vibrant Downtown that we all envision.”
To help fuel your creative thinking (and doing) in our downtown district, DAMC is rebooting two incentive-based partnership programs: Façade Improvement Grants and DAMC Sponsorships.
Downtown Arlington Façade Improvement Grants
First impressions count. What new customers see when they look at your business’ exterior can either kick start your relationship or end it before it begins. As Downtown becomes pedestrian-friendlier over the next few years, the importance of curb appeal will increase even more.
DAMC offers matching Façade Improvement Grants to taxable commercial properties or projects located within the boundaries of the Downtown Arlington Business Improvement District (BID). The program is a matching grant, providing a 1:1 match up to $5,000 for any single improvement project. Eligible improvement projects include building exterior enhancements, new awnings, painting, landscaping, new signage, accessibility improvements, public art, murals and decorative lighting.
Applications are accepted on a quarterly basis and will be reviewed and approved by the DAMC BID Committee.
Events, festivals, conferences, parades and other activities held in Downtown Arlington add to the quality of life for Arlington residents and increase awareness of Downtown as an exciting destination for visitors and tourists.
Through its Sponsorship Program, DAMC can offer sponsorship incentives to a limited number of businesses, non-profits and cultural entities to create memorable experiences unique to Downtown, spur an influx of people, attract diverse audiences, encourage exploration of downtown merchants and cultural assets, and spur secondary and tertiary business.
Applications for the DAMC Sponsorship Program are accepted on a quarterly basis and will be reviewed and approved by the DAMC BID Committee.
Annual Award Cycle
Façade Improvement Grants and DAMC Sponsorships are awarded quarterly in December, March, June and September:
- Applications submitted in October and November will be notified of award status in December.
- Applications submitted in January and February will be notified of award status in March.
- Applications submitted in April and May will be notified of award status in June.
- Applications submitted in July and August applicants will be notified of award status in September.
