What's Next in Downtown Arlington: March Monthly Update

Downtown Arlington has been buzzing with activity, and as we move into April, there's even more to look forward to this spring! Here's a look back at the past month and a preview of what's coming next.

In Review

March kicked off with a tail-wagging good time at the grand opening of The Doggie Depot, Downtown Arlington’s newest off-leash dog park, which received 10.2 million impressions in local news coverage. The event gathered local pet lovers to celebrate this fantastic new space for their furry friends. Tag @doggiedepottx on Instagram with photos of your furry friends at the new park!

The March edition of First Thursdays brought another night of live music, art pop-ups and extended shopping hours to downtown. As a result, Veo Scooters recorded it as their highest ridership day — walkability! If you missed out, don’t worry — April’s First Thursdays is right around the corner.

Shakespeare took center stage in March with the launch of themed events for Much Ado About Downtown Arlington. From pop-up performances to craft workshops, the program debuted and will lead up to a weekend of live Shakespeare performance the first weekend in April. If you love theater, history or simply a good story, be sure to check out what’s coming next...

Look Ahead

One upcoming thing we are most excited for... the introduction of the Downtown Arlington Farmers Market! Happening THIS Saturday, and every Saturday through November, downtown will host fresh and local fun. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lot at the corner of Front and Center Streets, residents and visitors alike will find unique vendors providing fresh products and handmade items. Find more information here.

The excitement continues with the April First Thursdays on April 3! This month’s lineup of art installations includes:

  • Shakespeare Live! at Levitt Pavilion: This First Thursday on April 3, experience the magic of Shakespeare Live! on the Levitt stage. At 7:30 p.m., enjoy a free, community-driven performance of "As You Like It."
  • Paw-trait Studio” at the Doggie Depot: Unleash your pup's at the Doggie Depot! Capture a memorable and artistic moment with your furry friend at our train cutout photo booth. Share your creative snapshots with us by tagging @dtarlington & @doggiedepottx! And if you bring your pup to First Thursdays, be sure to explore our many dog-friendly patios in Downtown Arlington, celebrating the vibrant culture of our community.

As we mentioned, Shakespeare Live! is bringing the timeless works of Shakespeare to life in the heart of downtown. Shakespeare Live! is a volunteer-driven, grassroots initiative, bringing Shakespeare to the people of Arlington. Performances will run from April 3 to 5 at the Levitt Pavilion Arlington. Learn more about Shakespeare Live! here.

Throughout the month, the City of Arlington invites you to participate in the Innovate Arlington Comprehensive Plan workshops—a series of public meetings designed to gather community input and build a shared vision for the city’s future. The Comprehensive Plan serves as one of Arlington’s key documents and charts a course for the city's future.
