Happy North Texas Giving Day! Today is a day dedicated to giving back to the organizations that shape the culture, history, and heart of North Texas.

In Downtown Arlington, local nonprofits are working year-round to keep our district vibrant and connected. From free concerts under the stars and historic pioneer cabin preservation to housing assistance, food access, education and the performing arts, these organizations make a lasting impact on our community.

Levitt Pavilion

Warm nights, live music, and a lawn full of friends, there is nothing quite like Downtown Arlington when the Levitt Pavilion comes alive.

Since 2008, this iconic outdoor venue has brought over 100,000 music lovers together each season for free concerts under the stars. From globally recognized headliners to breakout North Texas acts featured through its Share The Stage initiative, the Levitt fills the downtown with rhythm. 

What sets the Levitt apart is the experience. It is not just a concert; it is a true community gathering space located right in the center of downtown, just steps from City Hall. Guests are encouraged to pack a cooler, grab their favorite lawn chairs or blankets, and enjoy a relaxed, picnic-style atmosphere that is perfect for date nights and family outings.

Knapp Heritage & The Arlington Historical Society

The Arlington Historical Society keeps our city’s story alive through tours, rotating exhibits, and educational programs. Right on Front Street, Knapp Heritage Park, maintained by the Arlington Historical Society, offers visitors a rare glimpse into 19th-century pioneer life with its historic cabins, blacksmith shop, and schoolhouse.

Beyond our downtown district, the Historical Society also preserves and operates the historic Fielder Museum and the Arlington Heritage Memorial Grounds on Arkansas Lane.

This year, North Texas Giving Day fundraising efforts are focused directly on our downtown footprint: preserving and maintaining the historic cabins at Knapp Heritage Park. Your gift protects all of their sites and educational programming, ensuring future generations can continue to discover and celebrate Arlington’s unique history.

Arlington Life Shelter

As Downtown Arlington continues to grow and thrive, the Arlington Life Shelter works to ensure our neighborhood's progress includes support for everyone.

Serving men, women, children, and families, this medium-barrier shelter works year-round to help residents tackle the obstacles standing between them and permanent housing. Through comprehensive services such as case management, employment assistance, financial literacy, life-skills classes, children's programming, counseling, and housing placement, the shelter walks alongside residents every step of the way as they rebuild their lives.

For nearly four decades, Arlington Life Shelter has evolved alongside the needs of our community, growing from an emergency cold-weather shelter in 1987 into a holistic program focused on helping people not only become housed, but remain housed.

Theatre Arlington 

For over 50 years, Theatre Arlington has brought high-quality live performances, youth education, and creative outreach to Downtown Arlington.

To celebrate North Texas Giving Day, Theatre Arlington is hosting a community night at Chicken N Pickle in Grand Prairie on September 17th from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Enjoy dinner, games, and family fun while giving back: 10% of all food and drink sales directly fund the theater’s upcoming season and outreach programs.

Plus, if they hit their fundraising goal, Executive Producer Steven D. Morris will celebrate in a fully bedazzled pickle costume!

Taste Project

What if a restaurant could bring people together regardless of what they could afford?

That is the idea behind Taste Community Restaurant, a full-service, pay-what-you-can restaurant where everyone sits at the same table.

There are no prices on the menu. Guests can pay what they can afford, pay what they would typically pay, or pay a little extra to help provide a meal for a neighbor. The model brings people who need a meal and people who want to help into the same welcoming space, creating a community built around food, dignity and connection.

Taste Project's work goes beyond the restaurant. Its mission is to feed, educate and serve the community. Through its culinary job training program, Taste provides paid, tuition-free training and industry certifications designed to help apprentices build skills and move toward living-wage employment.

The Arlington restaurant opened in March 2025, giving Downtown Arlington another place where food can be a starting point for building community and supporting neighbors.

Green Oaks Education and Support

For more than 25 years, Green Oaks Education and Support has provided education, vocational training and community support for individuals with Down syndrome and similar intellectual disabilities.

What began in 2000 with four students has grown into an organization serving approximately 140 students ages 8 to 50 and older through Green Oaks School, Green Oaks Adult Learning and Green Oaks Vocational.

Its programs are designed to help individuals build skills and pursue greater independence across academics, employment, daily living and community participation. Green Oaks also provides resources and support for families throughout the community.

This North Texas Giving Day, your support can help Green Oaks continue providing specialized education, vocational opportunities and resources that help individuals build purposeful, fulfilling lives.

Dance Theatre of Arlington

Dance Theatre of Arlington provides dance education, scholarships and performance opportunities for local students and performers, helping make dance more accessible to members of the community.

North Texas Giving Day support helps fund scholarships, educational programming and performance opportunities, giving more people the chance to learn, perform and experience the arts.
