Lead gift for The Doggie Depot was major at last Yappy Hour fundraiser

The Doggie Depot fundraising is gaining momentum and can’t stop now! Our most recent fundraising has included our Capital Campaign, events, raffles, and donations.

We are excited to announce the lead gift of the Capital Campaign has been claimed by Doreen and Joe Bruner, constant dog park advocates and downtown supporters. The Bruners acquired the platinum sponsorship level and will be featured on the park’s pergola.

“The importance of a friendly community effort in the center of our town is just that, a community effortBeing neighborly, being friends, and being kind to each other is shared when our pets are taken care of and shared with others,” the couple said.

The Bruners go all in when a cause is close to their hearts. They are promoting the cause and have been key influencers in bringing additional donors forward to get involved.

As supporters of the park and constant attendees at all Doggie Depot-related events, the pair said any publicity is good when it attracts support, both physically and monetarily.

As dog lovers and pet parents, the couple said, “Our fur babies Rosebud and Trixie are forever in our hearts, and what a great dedication the Downtown Doggie Depot will be to all pet owners.

Any pup parents or downtown residents can get involved in supporting this project by donating or attending our various fundraising events. This park is for the benefit of all those downtown, the hundreds of cooped up apartment dogs, the local pup parents, and residents and employees wanting a cleaner downtown.

"We look forward to seeing not only downtown residents, but all who enjoy a place to take their pets, meet, and make new friends all while enjoying beautiful Downtown Arlington. The Downtown Doggie Depot is just another part of the puzzle in building back our downtown, generated by the many dedicated hearts that are part of this community,” the Bruners said.

If your family, organization or business wants to support the dog park similarly to the Bruners, consider sponsoring one of the park’s few remaining elements: fence panels, lamp posts and the entry arch. Learn more.

Our second Yappy Hour on August 1 at J. Gilligan’s was paw-some! We raised money for The Doggie Depot, acquired sponsorships and contributions for the park, and hosted talented artists who painted their pups.

The Doggie Depot is set to open in October and still needs donations, contributions and sponsorships to be fully constructed as planned. More events like Yappy Hour are still to come for residents, dog lovers and downtown dwellers where they can show their support by contributing to those events. Sponsorships are still available through our Capital Campaign for businesses, families and organizations.
