Chrome, Classics and Community: Classic Car Show returns to Downtown Arlington this September

Your favorite tradition is back... after a rain check. The Downtown Arlington Classic Car Show is officially rescheduled for the end of September. 

Mark your calendars for Saturday, Sept. 26, 2026, as Downtown Arlington welcomes car lovers, families and community members for a day filled with vintage style. From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Vandergriff Town Center will once again transform into a showcase of automotive history, where chrome gleams, engines rumble and stories come to life. 

This free, family-friendly event invites visitors to step back in time and experience an impressive lineup of classic cars spanning decades, from timeless cruisers to fully customized showpieces. But the Downtown Arlington Classic Car Show is about more than just the cars. It’s about the people, the passion and the community that brings it all together. 

A Tradition Built on Stories and Community 

Each vehicle on display carries more than just polished paint and restored parts. It carries a story. 

At last year’s show, more than 150 classic cars lined the streets, each with its own history. From a lovingly restored 1964 Corvette owned for more than 30 years to a 1966 Ford F-100 passed down through four generations, the event showcased how cars can become part of family legacies. 

Owners shared memories of road trips, milestones and years spent restoring their vehicles piece by piece. For many, the show is as much about connection as it is about competition, bringing together longtime enthusiasts and inspiring the next generation to keep the tradition alive. 

More Than a Car Show 

While the cars take center stage, the experience goes far beyond the lineup. 

Visitors can enjoy live music, local food vendors and interactive, the Saturday Downtown Farmers Market, family-friendly activities throughout the day, creating a lively festival atmosphere in the heart of downtown. 

Whether you're a lifelong gearhead or just looking for a fun Saturday outing, there's something for everyone. 

And, of course, the day wouldn't be complete without a little friendly competition. Car owners will compete for crowd-favorite honors and top awards, including Best of Show, Mayor's Choice and People's Choice, celebrating the craftsmanship and dedication behind each vehicle. 

Shop, Stroll and Explore Downtown 

Make a full day out of your visit. Alongside the car show, the Downtown Arlington Farmers Market will be open, offering fresh produce, handmade goods and local vendors. 

Just next door at Knapp Heritage Park, the annual Front Street Festival will feature live music, demonstrations, artisan vendors and a nostalgic "retro" theme celebrating the spirit of the very first Front Street Festival held in 2004. While you're there, stop by the pop-up exhibit featuring artifacts and memorabilia related to Arlington's automotive history, including the Bankhead Highway and General Motors.

Plus, you're just steps away from local favorites like Inclusion Coffee, Cane Rosso and J. Gilligan's Bar & Grill, along with a variety of unique shops and boutiques. It's easy to turn your visit into a full day in Downtown Arlington.
