Big things are happening along Front Street, Downtown Arlington’s latest redevelopment success story in the making. And just like Downtown itself, the transformation along Front St. is an eclectic celebration of past meets present. Buildings that have been around for decades are being reimagined by a new generation of entrepreneurs. Warehouses provide creative inspiration for completely new purposes. Underutilized lots are coming to life as event venues plus ample parking.

With so much accomplished – and much more to come – it’s only natural that within this new development, the Downtown Arlington Management Corporation (DAMC) is Front and center. Now that DAMC and its neighbors are open for business, what a perfect opportunity for you to come by and see what makes Downtown so authentically Arlington.

Downtown Arlington Management Corporation

Since 2006, the Downtown Arlington Management Corporation has served as the City of Arlington’s emissary (of sorts) for the advancement of the downtown district. A private, non-profit community development organization, DAMC staff and board members work to forge alliances between property owners, businesses, cultural entities, residents and the City of Arlington to improve and enhance the economic vitality and overall environment of Downtown.

That’s the mission statement. When you walk into the new DAMC office, we hope you’ll feel our passion for what we do every day to fulfill that mission. We work diligently (and often behind the scenes) to push forward sustainable economic development, such as the Abram St. revitalization project. We support innovation, such as providing incentives through the Downtown Destination Grant program or creating opportunities for start-up incubation or championing public art. We celebrate and support our many cultural assets, and have been recognized for those efforts by the State of Texas.

While we could go on and on, we can’t wait for you to come by so we can hear your ideas and stories of favorite Downtown Arlington destinations.

Urban Union

The new DAMC offices are strategically nestled within Urban Union, a 5+ acre, adaptive mixed-use site along Front Street. Dodson Companies, led by Ryan Dodson and his father Jerry, are spearheading the transformation of Urban Union’s eight buildings and more than 70,000 square feet of space.

Dodson Companies have been active in the real estate business since C.B. Dodson built his first building in the 1940s. C.B.’s son Jerry continued investing, developing, building and managing real estate throughout the 1970s, 80s and 90s. Today Ryan and Jerry carry on the family tradition. Ryan also serves as DAMC Board Chair.

Grand Opening

It won’t be long now! On Thursday, April 6, Urban Union will celebrate its Grand Opening. All Urban Union tenants, including DAMC, Dodson Development, Sleepy Cottage, Cearnal Co., Sugar Bee Sweets and Legal Draft, will have Open Houses from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Legal Draft is also hosting food vendors, food trucks and live performances. The Ribbon Cutting will take place at 5:00 p.m.
