What’s next for Downtown Arlington? Take the Survey!

Residents and stakeholders invited to share their vision for the future

Downtown Arlington Management Corporation (DAMC) is working with the City of Arlington to update the Downtown Master Plan, and we want your ideas and feedback!

Click here to take the 2018 Downtown Master Plan citizen survey, just the first of several ways you can help us envision an even more dynamic and vibrant Downtown Arlington.

Looking Back, Looking Ahead

The current Master Plan for Downtown Arlington, which was completed in 2004, created a 15-year roadmap for the district. Since that time, it’s almost impossible to quantify the changes that have taken place in Downtown Arlington.

“A lot has changed in Downtown since the last Master Plan was completed,” said Lyndsay Mitchell, Planning Manager for the City of Arlington. “The City wants to build on the momentum from those recent developments to continue growth in Downtown, as well as ensure that the vision for Downtown reflects the needs and wishes of the community. Completing the survey and getting involved in the process will give us information to help ensure that Downtown continues to be an exciting destination.”

Between 2010-20 alone, over $400 million has been committed to major public and private redevelopment projects in the district. This includes College Park District, Central Library, new Council Chambers, 101 Center, 404 Border, The Arlie, Abram Street revitalization, the UT Arlington SEIR building, Urban Union, Levitt Pavilion/Founders Plaza upgrades, and several other projects.

The Heart of the City

Within its 7-block radius, Downtown Arlington is home to an impressive concentration of fine and performing arts institutions; a growing number of restaurant, retail and residential developments; commercial and non-profit entities; government offices; and UT Arlington.

In 2016, Downtown Arlington was named the Arlington Cultural District by the Texas Commission on the Arts. In the same year, TripAdvisor ranked Downtown Arlington as one of 11 Awesome Urban Districts Exploding with Character.

“We work every day to make Downtown Arlington the next, great urban revitalization success story,” said Aldo Fritz, President and CEO of DAMC. “But the real heroes are the entrepreneurs, artists, volunteers, patrons, visitors, residents, businesses and organizations who pour their talent, creativity, passion and energy into making this a reality for our City. I’m excited to see where the next 15 years will take us.”
