The Sound of Summer Starts Here: First Thursdays and the Classic Car Show Bring a Big Week to Downtown Arlington
Summer is officially arriving in Downtown Arlington, and the first week of June is bringing the kind of energy that makes you want to stay awhile.
From the sounds of a Second-Line inspired parade winding through downtown streets during First Thursday to the rumble of classic car engines rolling into town just two days later, this is one of the most exciting weeks of the season.
Whether you're a regular at First Thursdays or planning your first visit, now is the perfect time to experience everything happening in the heart of Arlington.
Follow the Music at First Thursdays

The fun begins Thursday, June 4, as First Thursdays transforms Downtown Arlington into an evening of art, music, creativity and community.
You might hear it before you see it.
The crowd gathers, the brass starts playing and suddenly the Second-Line Sidewalk Parade is making its way through downtown. Inspired by New Orleans traditions, this lively parade invites everyone to join the procession. No tickets, no experience required. Just step in and follow the music.
Along the way, there are plenty of opportunities to stop, explore, and connect with the downtown community, including a can’t-miss cultural experience at Rotary Dream Park.

There, the nationally recognized Jiu Long Lion Dance Troupe will take over the park for two high-energy, family-friendly performances at 6:30 PM and 7:30 PM.
Just steps away, photography enthusiasts can join the Arlington Camera Photo Walk, capturing everything from colorful murals and local businesses to candid moments that make Downtown Arlington unique. Whether you're carrying professional equipment or simply snapping photos on your phone, the walk offers a fresh perspective on familiar streets.
As the evening continues, the rhythm keeps building.
The community Drum Circle invites visitors of all ages to grab a drum, find a beat and become part of the music themselves. It's the perfect way to close out the night surrounded by neighbors, creating something together - one rhythm at a time.
Of course, these signature experiences are just part of the evening. First Thursdays also features local artists, pop-up vendors, live performances, interactive activities and special offerings from downtown businesses.
Then, the Classics Roll In

Just when you think the excitement is over, Downtown Arlington shifts gears.
On Saturday, June 6, the Downtown Arlington Classic Car Show returns to Vandergriff Town Center, bringing hundreds of beautiful classic vehicles, live entertainment, food vendors and family-friendly fun.
From polished chrome and vintage cruisers to custom builds and rare classics, the event celebrates the craftsmanship, creativity and stories behind some of America's most iconic automobiles.
Throughout the day, Downtown offers even more to explore. The Downtown Arlington Farmers Market will be open from 9 AM to 2 PM, offering fresh produce, local vendors, and artisan goods just steps from the car show.
Just across from the Farmers Market, Knapp Heritage Park will feature live music and a special exhibit highlighting the history of the Bankhead Highway, adding a cultural and historical layer to the day’s festivities.
