Join the Songwriter Circle, a New Weekly Campfire Singalong Series at Knapp Heritage Park
As the evenings start to cool, we think it's the perfect time to add a little music to the night air. Nothing fancy. Just a gathering of musicians around a little campfire, singing and picking and enjoying time with old friends and making new ones.
That's the idea behind Downtown Arlington's new music series, Songwriter Circle. Local friends will take turns hosting a group of musicians who will jam with their own songs and classics everyone knows.
Do play an instrument? Bring it along and join the circle. Every session is open mic.
This free, weekly campfire singalong series will be held every Wednesday in November. Sessions starts at sunset, which is around 6:30 p.m. before the time changes and 5:30 p.m. after. You're welcome to BYOB and BYO picnic.
One thing. You need to take the Songwriter Circle oath. Please promise to follow these three simple rules:
- Call your chords - its a circle, not a stage. The fun is in the participation!
- No amplified sounds
- No bystanders - you gotta participate in the music!
Maggie Campbell will host the first Songwriter Circle on November 2 at 6:30 p.m. Find out who our next hosts will be and learn more about the series through our Facebook and Instagram feeds.
About Knapp Heritage Park
Knapp Heritage Park, dedicated in 2004, is a cultural and heritage center containing several of the oldest and most historic structures in the city. The Jopling-Melear and Watson cabins, which date to the mid-1800s, along with a 1910 one-room schoolhouse are also located within the park. The Bardin blacksmith barn is also onsite, along with a general store located in James Knapp's law office.
