Park, Rideshare, Pedal and Stroll: Getting Around in Downtown Arlington

It’s so easy to get to and around Downtown Arlington! Whether you’re in the neighborhood for a bite to eat, to meet friends after work, to catch a show, or to spend the weekend, you’ll find our Business Improvement District accessible and easy to navigate. Here are some tips to get you on the road to fun in Downtown:

Park for Free

There’s plenty of free street parking in Downtown Arlington as well as a public parking garage at 101 Center. Note that some of our street parking is configured for back-in parking. The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) College Park District offers free visitor parking with validation. UTA campus parking garages are also available for public parking for an hourly fee.

Free bike racks are located throughout Downtown and UTA.

Take a Stroll

You’ll find it’s pretty easy to walk or ride your bike in Downtown Arlington. Our entire Business Improvement District is only about one square mile total, so we recommend that you find one place to park, then walk or pedal from destination to destination as you spend the day in Downtown.

If you’re looking for some fun routes for exploring our district, visit our Downtown Outdoors online guide for our public art, mural, and Abram Street walking tours.

Catch a Ride

If you like the idea of only having to park your car once, but you’d prefer to take a car from Point A to B within Downtown Arlington, have we got a deal for you! RAPID is a self-driving vehicle service will take you wherever you want to go in Downtown. RAPID is provided through a public-private partnership between May Mobility, the City of Arlington, and UT Arlington. Simply hail a RAPID through the VIA app (see more info below). Although RAPID is an autonomous service, you’ll be accompanied by a May Mobility expert on every ride.

Get Around Arlington

Gone are the days when you had to rely on your own set of wheels to get around Arlington. You can easily hail Lyft or Uber which provide service throughout the city. However, we recommend you try VIA City-wide Rideshare. VIA Rideshare is an inexpensive, public transit ride-share that also serves the entire city of Arlington and the CentrePort TRE station. Just download the app to your phone, sign up, and get a ride. VIA does not operate 24 hours a day, so please visit this website for current hours of service and per-ride cost. If you’re a UT Arlington student, you can access VIA and RAPID services at a discounted rate and even get your first few rides for free!
