Are you a Mavericks fan but you don’t feel like making the long drive to Downtown Dallas? Come root for the Mavericks in Downtown Arlington! The University of Texas at Arlington Mavericks play their games in the state-of-the-art College Park Center. College Park Center is located between Second and Third streets and can seat up to 7,000 people.
The Mavericks experienced great success last year, winning the 2012 Southland Conference Title and making an appearance in the National Invitation Tournament. As a result of this, Head Coach Scott Cross was ranked 10th in Forbes’ list of Best College Basketball Coaches for the Money (Mid-Majors).
“It is time to take the game-day atmosphere to another level here at College Park Center. That is only going to happen if the city of Arlington, along with the UT Arlington students, comes out in full force to support our basketball team,” Cross wrote in his open letter to UTA fans encouraging everyone to come and support the team.
While you enjoy cheering the Mavericks to victory, satisfy your appetite by visiting one of the many concessions stands. They offer a little bit of everything including hot dogs, nachos, chicken tenders, pizza, popcorn, soda, and beer, if you’re 21 or older of course. Cash and credit cards are accepted.
According to UTA criminal justice major Cecilia Ventura, a common reason for why people don’t go to games is that they never know when they are playing.
