Double your impact: North Texas Giving Day on September 22
We know that making a personal commitment to philanthropy can make a difference in our community, such as volunteering at Mission Arlington/Mission Metroplex, or serving on the Theatre Arlington Guild, or pitching in a few dollars every time the Levitt Pavilion passes a donation bucket at a concert. Multiply that individual commitment by the number of members within a community and exponential change is possible.
Now imagine what might happen if the collective commitment of a community could be instantly doubled. This is the vision of North Texas Giving Day.
North Texas Giving Day
Presented by Communities Foundation of Texas, North Texas Giving Day energizes such potential. On September 22, 2016 between 6:00 a.m. and midnight, donations of $25 and above to certified nonprofits listed on northtexasgivingday.org will be amplified by bonus funds and prizes.
“North Texas Giving Day is the chance for the region to shine a hot spotlight on the power and promise of philanthropy,” said Carolyn Mentesana, executive director of the Arlington Tomorrow Foundation. “For more than eight years, this 18-hour event has proven what is possible when we focus our collective efforts -- and our financial resources -- on the causes we believe make a difference in our lives and benefit those around us.”
Local impact
“For the 100 Arlington-based charities registered for North Texas Giving Day,” Mentesana said, “this day means we in Arlington can concentrate locally, acknowledge the vital work done by nonprofits throughout the city, and remind us of the dedication by our nonprofit community each and every day to make Arlington a better place to call our home.”
“Many educational, cultural and service-oriented nonprofit organizations make Downtown Arlington their home,” said Tony Rutigliano, president and CEO of Downtown Arlington Management Corporation. “North Texas Giving Day is an ideal opportunity to show them our support and gratitude.”
Get involved
As the city's largest donor, the Arlington Tomorrow Foundation is offering $30,000 in bonus grants to Arlington-based nonprofits. The grants are designed to challenge the community to get involved and to donate to the organizations that matter most to them. For instance, the Foundation is offering two $5,000 grants to qualified nonprofits in attendance at the Arlington Gives! Concert on September 22.
Additionally, the Gene and Jerry Jones Arlington Youth Foundation is offering a $10,000 grant to the eligible, Arlington-based charity which garners the most number of votes during the People's Choice Award voting at Arlington Gives! Only those attending the concert can vote for this award.
“We hope these bonus funds provide the motivation for local charities to rally their supporters and donors,” Mentesana said. “It’s a great way for the community to get involved and to donate to the organizations they believe are making our lives better.”
