When artist Dylan Kennedy created Climb! in 2018, he transformed an entire side of Dyno‑Rock Indoor Climbing Center into a vivid invitation to always strive for new heights. The central image is a young woman scaling an indoor rock wall, echoing the dynamic energy taking place inside the center while turning the building itself into a landmark for Downtown Arlington.

As Kennedy noted, a mural is not simply a “pretty painting that hangs on a wall,” but a piece of placemaking meant to “create impact and spark interest” in becoming part of the story. By grounding the mural in the physical act of ascension, Kennedy reminds us that we will persevere, physically or metaphorically, when we Climb! together.

About the Artist

According to muralist Dylan Kennedy, every blank wall is a potential canvas waiting to spark joy and inspiration to whoever passes by. He believes art has the power to transform spaces and connect people, whether it’s a colorful mural in a child’s bedroom or a large-scale outdoor piece that lifts the spirit of a whole community.

Kennedy’s creative path began early. He sketched endlessly throughout his childhood before studying fine art at Texas Tech University, where his first mural commission confirmed his calling. Travels to Italy and Brazil deepened his fascination with art in public spaces and how it can transform everyday life. Since moving from West Texas to the Dallas-Fort Worth area in 2012, he’s followed that instinct, filling interior and exterior walls across North Texas with story-filled works full of color and possibilities.
