Headliner (8:30pm): The Latin Breed Band
The Latin Breed Band born in San Antonio, TX in 1969 and Rudy Guerra was the father of their sound today. Rudy left the popular Sunny Osuna and the Sunliners, who were showcased on Dick Clark’s American Bandstand to raise the bar for Chicano music. He assembled musicians, worked to educate them musically, and technically, with just the right sense of feel. They had had the same passion, leading to the exciting horns, the rhythms, and embellished chords we now recognize as The Latin Breed sound. Their sound and popularity spanned the nation, climbed the Billboard charts as they flooded the radio, hit-after-hit. Some critics and music experts relate their Spanish sound to Chicago, The Tower of Power, and Earth, Wind, and Fire. It’s powerful and hits the soul. Current owner and saxophonist, Charlie Rodriguez’s passion is infectious. The new singer, Ben Miranda, and the entire band are excited to blazer new paths and capture the hearts and ear and breed a new generation of musicians, singers, and fans. Join us at on the Levitt lawn for some new music from this long lasting band!
Opening Artist (7:30pm): Los Músicos
Los Músicos are a band of seasoned national touring talent. Each have been members of some of the top Chicano and Tejano recording bands, performing back to the early 1970s. Their national travels exposed them to radio and many genres. Their powerful music arsenal includes potent Chicano, seasoned Tejano, beat-tapping oldies, emotion-provoking R&B and Motown classics. Don’t be surprised is you hear some smooth jazz riffs. They can be sooo cool to the ear. These musicians have recorded with Chicano and Tejano greats like Little Joe y La Familia, Johnny Hernandez and The Third Coast, Jesse Serrata, Augustine “Guti” Ramirez, and many more. We are happy to welcome them so they can continue to delight music-lovers at the Levitt Pavilion and gain new fans in Arlington, TX.
