This lecture will discuss the changing status of visual artists in the 16th century with a focus on the critical role that prints played in Durer’s self-promotion.

The lecturer, Dr. Mary Vaccaro, is a Distinguished Professor of Art History who specializes in sixteenth-century northern Italian painting and drawing. She currently teaches at the University of Texas at Arlington.
