Welcome to a monthly update, where we'll discuss Downtown Arlington's recent happenings, highlights and things to look forward to in the coming month.
Dream Photo Contest
Calling all photographers and creatives! Downtown Arlington recently announced a photo contest highlighting the iconic DREAM Sculpture and new Rotary Dream Park.
Participants' photos will be showcased on Downtown Arlington’s social platforms, with a chance at cash prizes of $100 and $500. Winning photos will be displayed at the new Sutton Frost Cary space with an open house and exhibit during February’s First Thursdays on Feb. 6. February First Thursdays
Though we took a break in January, the next First Thursdays will be full of artistic experiences for all ages to enjoy. Join us from 5 to 8 p.m. Feb. 6 for featured attractions including:
Live Ice Sculpting at Rotary Dream Park: Witness in real time the art of ice sculpting with sculpture artists from Stellar Ice at the new Rotary Dream Park in Downtown Arlington. Take in the full immersive and interactive experience of this new urban sculptural park.
Drum Circle with Drum One, Drum All: Join us at Inclusion Coffee for an interactive drum circle experience led by Noah from Drum One, Drum All. This interactive and immersive arts expereince is funded in part by the Texas Commission on the Arts.
*SOLD OUT* Guided Tours of Kirk Franklin Studio: Explore Grammy-winning artist Kirk Franklin’s state-of-the-art studio with a 45-minute guided tour. You must register to enter, free registration can be found by clicking here.
Welcome Back Mavs!
As students return to the University of Texas at Arlington campus, Downtown Arlington is ready to welcome you with open arms and plenty of adventures. Here are three must-visit spots to get a successful, fun start to the semester:
- Union Worx Coworking: Get some work done off campus with flexible offices space, dedicated desks, social open coworking with unique event space, and easy memberships.
- Free Play Arcade: For just $12.49, you’ll have unlimited access to 130+ retro arcade games and pinball. There is also a wide drink selection and delicious food.
- Basketball at CPC: College Park Center is home to UTA’s basketball teams and filled with Maverick pride at every game. Men’s basketball plays at 7 p.m. Jan. 16, 23 and 30. The women’s basketball team will play at 2 p.m. Jan. 25.
Whether you're a student, local or visitor, Downtown Arlington has plenty to offer this month and every month. From Collin Raye to Endless Summer- America's Beach Boys Experience, Arlington Music Hall has lots more shows this month.
