We’re gearing up for Homecoming Week as we rally behind the University of Texas at Arlington Mavericks, and we’re thrilled to be part of it! This year’s Homecoming basketball game is set for Saturday, November 15 at the College Park Center. All of Downtown Arlington will be humming with blue and orange spirit. 

A Tradition of Community & Campus 

Here in Downtown Arlington, we’ve had the honor of hosting and supporting Homecoming traditions for generations. From earlier days when students gathered at the historic Mineral Well to today’s vibrant storefront displays and parade, this special relationship between the university and downtown has grown stronger year by year. 

What does that means for you? Whether you’re a student, alumni, business owner, resident or visitor, you are an essential part of this celebration. Downtown isn’t just a backdrop, it’s a stage for this annual celebration. 

What’s Happening Downtown 

Decorate Downtown:

Many of our local businesses are getting dressed in Maverick pride: blue and orange signs, creative displays, student-built storefront art. Walk through the district and soak in the Homecoming spirit. 

Homecoming Parade:

The annual UTA Homecoming Parade, on Saturday, November 15th, at 11:00 AM, will roll right through parts of Downtown Arlington! Watch as floats, student groups and community organizations fill the streets with Maverick spirit. Grab a good viewing spot early, cheer on your favorite entries and join the celebration as it winds its way through the heart of our community. 

Game day:

On November 15, the men’s and women’s basketball teams will take to the court, and Downtown will be buzzing. Stop by before tip-off for food, drinks and photos. 

Business tie-ins:

If you own or work at a downtown business, now’s a great moment to lean into Homecoming. Encourage your team to wear UTA colors, offer specials, partner with student organizations and highlight UTA alumni. 

Why Downtown Matters 

Downtown Arlington has always been more than just a neighbor to UTA. It’s the heart that connects the campus to the community. During Homecoming, that connection comes alive as streets, shops and gathering spaces serve as a welcoming gateway for students, alumni and families returning to celebrate UTA. 

For local businesses, Homecoming is an opportunity to showcase what makes Arlington unique, from friendly service and creative menus to vibrant storefronts decked out in blue and orange. And for everyone who calls this area home, it’s a reminder of how shared spaces can bring people together. When Downtown shines with school spirit, it transforms into a living symbol of unity and pride, a place where the energy of the university and the heartbeat of the city meet. 

A Few Friendly Tips for the Week 

• Arrive early: Plan to arrive downtown early on game day as parking and foot traffic will pick up as the energy builds. 
• Bring a camera: There will be photo-ops galore: storefronts, banners, student groups in full spirit gear. Make sure you’ve got something to capture the fun!
• Support local: Grab a bite or drink downtown before or after the game. Keeping the spirit strong in Downtown means supporting the people behind the bars, restaurants and shops. 
• Share the moment: Use the hashtag #MavUp or #DowntownArlington when you post your likes and photos. We’d love to reshare!
