It's that time of year again in Downtown Arlington! The light poles on Abram St. are decorated and the Christmas tree sits on the steps of City Hall, awaiting to be lit. Our local arts organizations like Theatre Arlington, CATS, and Arlington Music Hall are kicking off their highly anticipated performances. And best of all - family and friends are gathering for events like Christmas at Knapp Heritage Park and the Holiday Lights Parade.
Below are a list of shows and activities to get you into the #SpiritOfArlington
1. Theatre Arlington: A Tuna Christmas
A Tuna Christmas is a satire on small-town, Southern life and attitudes featuring two men who play various characters, genders, and ages. The play is intended for mature audiences due to adult themes and language.
A preview show is Thursday, Dec. 5 and the official opening is on Friday, Dec. 6 with shows every Thursday - Sunday until Dec. 22.
2. CATS: Aesop's Fable-ous Christmas Tree
Our favorite children's theatre is putting a hilarious twist on classics like The Twelve days of Christmas by combining moral tales like The Tortoise and the Hare. A great show for the entire family!
Shows run on Friday and Saturday, beginning on Dec. 6 and ending on Dec. 14.
3. Arlington Music Hall: Christmas Shows
Truly get into the #SpiritOfArlington with Arlington Music Hall's classic Christmas Shows! The decorations, lighting, costumes and talented performers set the mood for a show the whole family can enjoy.
Shows run Thursday - Friday from Dec. 5 until Dec. 21.
4. Arlington Historical Society: Christmas at Knapp Heritage Park
Bring the whole family to Knapp Heritage Park for a night of FREE fun! Black smith demonstrations, pictures with Santa, carols and much more will definitely get you in the holiday spirit.
Friday, Dec. 6 from 6 - 8 p.m.
5. 10th Annual Holiday Lights Parade
Start the day off with FREE entry into the Mitch Wilson Memorial Festival of Trees at the Arlington Museum of Art and do some shopping at the gift store. Entertainment begins at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7 at the Levitt Pavilion with performances by the Miss Persis Studio Elf Show. The Arlington Community band performs at 5:30 across from the Levitt on the steps of City Hall. The parade begins at 6 p.m. and ends with the official lighting of the 50 foot spruce in front of City Hall. Don't forget to get your picture with Santa at the Levitt afterwards!
6. Symphony Arlington: Holiday Celebration
The Symphony is a level 1 arts organization according to the Texas Commission of the Arts. Get taken away into a winter wonderland with favorite like the Nutcracker Suite.
Playing for only one night on Thursday, Dec. 19 at 7:30 p.m.
