Texas Trust Credit Union gives back and looks ahead

This Presidents Day, nearly 260 volunteers gathered in front of the Dream sculpture in Downtown Arlington, rolled up their bright blue sleeves, then got busy.

As a part of the Texas Trust Credit Union annual All Team Meeting (ATM), 26 teams of 10 employees each spread out across Mission Arlington/Mission Metroplex’s downtown facilities and performed all kinds of mission-critical tasks. Volunteers unloaded trucks and restocked the food bank, sorted clothes for the community closet, organized supplies for after-school programs, and safely relocated hundreds of Bibles and other books so Mission Arlington can make repairs to their water-damaged library.

“We use ATM to celebrate and honor employees who have gone above and beyond, to invest in our people through training, for team building, and to do something special for our community,” said Debi Knoblock, associate vice president for business and community engagement at Texas Trust.

“Working with Mission Arlington falls right in line with our mission as a credit union of people helping people,” Knoblock said. “Many of our employees weren’t aware of the organization or the breadth of services offered. Working there was a great way to educate employees about Mission Arlington’s ministry and its impact on the community.”

“It’s easy to say thank you to Texas Trust Credit Union employees,” said Tillie Burgin, executive director of Mission Arlington/Mission Metroplex. “They came and put a smile on our faces because of the way that they worked, the way that they served, and the way they gave back.”

Texas Trust has a proud history of involvement within the communities it serves, especially in Arlington. The credit union’s headquarters are based in Arlington, and it has six locations throughout the city including a downtown branch in the UTA College Park District. Texas Trust also partners with UT Arlington Athletics, creating a win-win opportunity to connect with students, faculty and staff while supporting educational opportunities.

“It’s an issue of ownership for us,” Knoblock said. “We have great relationships with the Arlington ISD and UTA. Getting involved with the Downtown Arlington Management Corporation was a natural next step.”

The relationship between Texas Trust and DAMC really blossomed in 2016 when the credit union became its Premier Partner. Together, the organizations created the annual Downtown Arlington Dream Builder Award, an honor given in recognition of individuals who have had a significant impact on the Downtown Arlington community.

“The Dream Builder Award is a way for us to contribute to the downtown movement,” said Knoblock, “by honoring those who have already invested their time and resources into making Downtown Arlington a destination location.”

Tom Cravens was honored with the first Dream Builder Award at the 2016 DAMC Annual Luncheon.

“Texas Trust is an exemplary partner,” said Tony Rutigliano, president and CEO of the Downtown Arlington Management Corporation. “They have an intrinsic organizational commitment to helping their communities become better, stronger and more successful.”

“Texas Trust is honored to be part of the positive transformation taking place in Downtown Arlington,” said Knoblock. “We look forward to a continued long and productive relationship with DAMC.”
