Take Out Tuesday Suggests: SWEETS in FOUNDERS PLAZA

In celebration of the unique flavors and green spaces found throughout Downtown Arlington, you’re invited to support local restaurants by ordering Take Out every Tuesday, especially now through June 1. Pair your take out with a lovely outdoor park, nook, or seating area in Downtown and you've instantly got yourself an urban picnic getaway.

This week, we suggest a little something for your sweet tooth while taking five in Founders Plaza.

Sweets for the Sweet

Check out these five-star Yelp ratings that perfectly describe our own experiences at some of our favorite Downtown sweet spots:

Rita's Italian Ice & Frozen Custard
101 E. Abram St. Suite 120

Had a great experience; walked in and talked with the owner. After sampling a couple, let me tell you what, me and my wife were blown away. The Italian ice mixed with custard compliments each other so well, this will take over as our new sweets spot. We are really excited to have a place like this close to us! - Jonathan P. on Yelp

Shipley DO-nut Shop
501 E. Abram St.

My family and I drive 30 mins to get donuts from here! Closest one to us and by far the best. Love the kolaches!!! And the donuts are so soft & amazing! Just like the small Shipley's I grew up on when I was little in Houston, TX!  Thank you, Shipleys, for always being delicious and so worth the drive! - Rebeka M. on Yelp

Sugar Bee Sweets Bakery
201 N. East St.

Sugar Bees Sweets is the very best bakery in the world! We are so lucky to have them in Arlington. They made our wedding cake and grooms cakes and they were both delicious and perfect. We continue to go for cupcakes, scones and coffee. Everyone that works there is wonderful and so welcoming. Now that we are working from home, we will definitely be up there more often since they are open for to-go orders. - Wendy P. on Yelp

Founders Plaza

Founders Plaza is a city park in the heart of Downtown Arlington. Located at 100 W. Abram St. directly across the street from City Hall, Founders Plaza is a favorite place for an impromptu picnic lunch, community gatherings and celebrations. The park includes a spacious lawn, walkways, seating walls, beautiful trees and flower beds, an interactive water fountain generously donated by the Junior League of Arlington, public art, a history garden, and is the home of the Levitt Pavilion for the Performing Arts.
