Roll Out the Red, White and Blue Carpet in Downtown Arlington

Calling all Downtown Arlington business owners and creative spaces! Let’s get ready to roll out the red, white and blue carpet, because the City of Arlington’s traditional Independence Day celebrations are returning to Downtown!

As the historic and cultural center of Arlington, Downtown has traditionally hosted our city’s big fireworks show and Independence Day parade. In 2020 and 2021, due to pandemic safety protocols, those celebrations were relocated and scaled back. Good news! This July 3-4, we’re bringing back all the beloved traditions and thinking creatively about how we can enhance the experience for the over 100,000 people expected to come to Downtown during this two-day period.

Roll Out the Red, White and Blue Carpet!

In 2022, July 3 and 4 are on a Sunday and Monday, making an ideal opportunity for Arlingtonians to travel with family over the holiday weekend and still return home in time for fireworks on Sunday evening. By 6:00pm on July 3, we can expect at least 50,000 people will gather in Downtown in advance of the 9:45pm start time for fireworks.

This year, Downtown Arlington is teaming up with the City of Arlington Parks and Recreation Dept. and Arlington Police to envision a super fun, safe and family-friendly experience on the evening of Sunday, July 3. There will be three outdoor stages – including the Levitt Pavilion as the anchor, plus one adjacent to Grease Monkey Burger Shop and another along Abram Street and Mesquite. The Parks Dept. is arranging for food trucks near the parade route, with opportunities for Downtown restaurants to get first dibs.

On Monday, July 4, the Arlington Independence Day Parade will start at 9:00am. Every year this all-volunteer driven parade proves its claim as the largest Fourth of July parade in the State of Texas. Crowds are expected to top 100,000. Registration to enter the Parade is open now!

NOW is the time for every business and creative space to put on your patriotic thinking cap. How will you activate your patio, front elevation, and/or outdoor spaces before the parade to attract new and returning visitors to Downtown? And once visitors dive into your air-conditioned comfort, what holiday-inspired promotions and activities do you have planned that they’ll talk about weeks later?

Downtown Arlington is here to help you brainstorm and promote your 2022 Independence Day Weekend activities! But don’t delay – with advanced planning, your business or creative space will get the most out of our advanced promotion.
