Relive the magic of Downtown Arlington’s May First Thursdays
On May 1, Downtown Arlington came alive with the vibrant energy of its monthly First Thursdays celebration. From 5 to 8 p.m., the streets buzzed with music, art and community spirit, offering a delightful evening for attendees of all ages.

Children gathered on the floor at the edge of the stage during Le Theatre de Marionette’s whimsical puppet show. Colorful characters and playful storytelling brought magic to the historic Arlington Music Hall.

This month's event featured a dynamic "UTA Takeover," showcasing performances by the University of Texas at Arlington's talented students and faculty, including jazz ensembles, African dance and interactive art installations.

Dancers of all skill levels stepped to the rhythm during Salsa at the Gardens, where lively salsa-dancing lessons at Los Molcas brought together seasoned dancers and beginners.

Professor Laurie Taylor led an energetic African dance session, accompanied by live percussion from Professor Chris Nadeau, engaging the crowd in rhythmic movement.

Attendees helped fill in a “chalk by numbers” art piece that paved the path to the Rotary Dream Park.

The Downtown Library hosted a Creative Corner where attendees experimented with watercolor painting, creating floral-themed masterpieces.

A live DJ spins retro beats at Stash VHS, setting the vibe with tracks that kept the crowd grooving all night long.

Along with many other interactive and live art installations this month, attendees could find easels and art supplies set up for sketching.

Guests at Kung Fu Tea cooled off with custom bubble tea creations while exploring local art vendors and displays set up.
As the evening concluded, the sense of community and shared joy lingered in the air. Downtown Arlington's May First Thursdays not only celebrated the arts and local businesses but also strengthened the bonds among residents. Mark your calendars for the next First Thursday on June 5 and continue to be part of the magic that connects the arts and community.
