Over Forty Years in the Making, Downtown Dreams Come True for Long-time Entrepreneur

For her entire adult life, Deborah Galloway has been crazy about Downtown Arlington. She always dreamt of a way to combine her passion and career in the heart of her city. Now Deborah’s long-time dream has come true with the recent opening of her store, Timeless Treasures Vintage & More, on Abram Street.

“I attended UTA in the 1970's,” said Deborah, “and during my tenure as a student, I fell in love with Downtown Arlington. I began to dream of having a shop here.”

After she graduated with her sociology degree, Deborah married and found herself a long way from Texas.

“Due to corporate relocations, my husband and I moved to New Jersey,” said Deborah. “There, I opened an upscale plus-size clothing boutique called Elegante Woman, but I continued to dream about returning to Arlington and having a store in Downtown.”

Time passed, and Deborah and her family did return to Texas. In 2009, she opened Fabulously Frugale Boutique in Irving. She rekindled her passion for Downtown by volunteering with Downtown Arlington, Inc. (the precursor to DAMC), which at the time was blossoming under the executive directorship of now City Council member Lana Wolff.

At that time, Deborah began noticing a trend. Her customers were very interested in clothing from the 1960's and 1970's and in purchasing older-style jewelry. After doing her research, she took the plunge into vintage. With this change, her customer base grew, especially students and tourists. Some said they traveled from as far away as Australia and the U.K.

“By 2014, we made the decision to relocate the business to Arlington,” she continued, “but at that time we could not find a suitable storefront in Downtown. So we opened up shop in Pantego and changed the name to Timeless Treasures Vintage & More.”

Each year since it opened, Timeless Treasures Vintage & More earned a top spot on the Dallas A-List for Best Vintage and Resale Category in Northeast Texas. Meanwhile, Deborah continued to keep her eye open for available property in Downtown Arlington.

“Last year, we finally located an affordable, visible retail storefront on Abram Street, and in November 2018, we relocated Timeless Treasures Vintage & More to Downtown Arlington,” Deborah said.

“Finally, my dream has been realized.”

Curated, consigned, and collectible

When shopping at Timeless Treasures Vintage & More, you’ll find a curated selection of vintage and retro items and clothing including bar ware, decor, hats, purses, toys, cameras, sports memorabilia, books, 8-track tapes and vinyl records, plus vintage and new costume jewelry for men and women.

“We also currently have local handcrafted wood gift items, oil paintings, jewelry and candles,” said Deborah, “and we plan to add more locally-crafted gifts and crafts in the near future.”

With her innovative spirit and sixth sense for trends, we have no doubt that Timeless Treasures Vintage & More in Downtown Arlington will be delighting customers for years to come.

Deborah’s Downtown Picks

When we asked Deborah how she likes to spend her free time in Downtown, she laughed --- “What free time?” -- then shared that she enjoys trying out all the new restaurants. She added, “Hopefully in the near future, we’ll also have time to attend some of the concerts at the Levitt Pavilion and performances at Theatre Arlington.”

See you there, Deborah.
