#RangerNation: Things to Do this Texas Ranger Season

The Texas Rangers’ season kickstarts today, Thursday, March 28th at 6:39 p.m. in a game against the Chicago Cubs! The Rangers’ batting practice begins at 3:30 p.m. with the pregame ceremonies scheduled for 6:00 p.m.

Fresh off the heels of their first World Series title in franchise history, all eyes are on the Rangers as they work to maintain this upward momentum. This is the season you don’t want to miss! The team will unveil the 2023 World Series Champions banner on March 28 as part of the opening day ceremonies followed by the retrieval of their World Series rings on Saturday as part of an on-field ceremony before the first pitch.

Whether it’s stopping in at J. Gilligan’s for a quick bite before shuttling to the game or hanging out at Binions Ice House for a drink after the final inning, start a new Ranger Day tradition by heading to a Downtown business this 2024 season! Let the fun continue all day long by enjoying all the food, booze, and entertainment located a very short distance away from Globe Life Field.

Here are three must have things to do if you’re in town for the 2024 Texas Ranger Season.

1. Eat

From longstanding community staples such as J. Gilligan’s and Babe’s Chicken, to new destinations such as Cafe Americana and Zio Al’s Pizza & Pasta, to tried-and-true fan favorites such as Grease Monkey Burgers and Old School Pizza Tavern, Downtown Arlington has no shortage of restaurants and eateries to choose from.

If you’re bored of burgers or pizza (if that’s even possible), check out the Eat and Drink tab on our website for a full array of delicious options including tacos, ramen, sandwiches, seafood, and more! And you can’t enjoy the Ranger season without trying a meal from the acclaimed Hurtado Barbecue at least once. Beat the line at Globe Life Field by heading 5 minutes down the street to their home location right here in Downtown Arlington, located at 205 E Front Street.

2. Drink

Whether you’re pre-gaming before the ballgame, celebrating a hometown win, or trying to forget a losing score, Downtown Arlington is the place to be! Craft beers, mixed drinks, and good vibes run abundant here in Downtown between our diverse selection of bars, pubs, and breweries. Division Brewing offers home-brewed beers that you can’t find anywhere else (and a new pizza and burger, tavern-style restaurant) while On Tap offers a variety of local brews “on tap” for patrons to try.

Meanwhile, bars such as Binions Ice House, Hayters Bar & Lounge, 4 Kahunas Tiki Lounge, Kool Keg, and Hooligan’s Pub serve a menu full of signature drinks, margaritas, beers, and plenty of food options to keep you going all night long. Visit the Eat and Drink tab on our website to discover all the greatest bars and breweries Downtown has to offer.

3. Party

Keep the good times rolling by visiting Downtown’s wide variety of fun and entertainment. If you’re in the mood for a little friendly competition, be sure to take your friends and family over to Cidercade, Lone Star Axe Throwing, Dyno-Rock Indoor Climbing, or Free Play Arcade.

If you’re a fan of live music, the Arlington Music Hall is always hosting great bands, tributes, and artists throughout the week and the Levitt Pavilion’s season kicks into full gear on April 26th with FREE concerts every weekend. Additionally, many of our bars and restaurants host live music each week, so don’t forget to subscribe to the Downtown Arlington newsletter to stay up to date on the latest shows.

If you’re looking for more family friendly fun, Theatre Arlington’s Alice in Wonderland production also opens this weekend on Friday, March 29th. Check out the Downtown Arlington event calendar for more Theatre Arlington dates and for more entertainment options.
