New College Park Pizza Shop Offers Good Food Fast
By Joel Cooley
Pie Five Pizza Co., in the heart of the growing College Park District, focuses on fast but delicious food at an affordable price.
Located at 501 Spaniolo Drive, Pie Five is easily accessible to UTA students. With free parking across the street and in the College Park parking garage, visitors to Downtown Arlington also can enjoy the pizza-shop offerings.
UTA student Christopher Slocum enjoys the large variety of options that are available.
“The pizza is really good, and the restaurant has a fun, relaxing environment about it,” Slocum said. “I like the fact you can put as many toppings on the pizza that you want for the same price.”
In addition to a number of specialty pizzas, the Pie Five menu has a build-your-own pizza option with the availability of four different crusts (including one that is gluten free), eight types of sauces, four types of cheese, nine types of meat and 11 vegetable toppings. Pie Five also offers several entrée-size and side salads, including a build-your-own salad option.
A North Texas chain with nine locations and a 10th opening soon in North Arlington, Pie Five is based on the concept that the small pizzas take only five minutes to bake. According to the Pie Five website, the restaurant recently received the “Hot Concept” award from Nation’s Restaurant News.
The short cooking time makes the pizzas perfect for the Downtown Arlington lunch crowd or to grab a bite between classes, but the restaurant is open all day and late into the evening, from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. every day.
