Kickstarting big dreams and bright ideas: Learn the 1-2-3s of crowdfunding

Big dreams and bright ideas are born in Downtown Arlington.

Bold statement? True. True statement? Absolutely. Because in Downtown Arlington, the faculty, staff and over 37,000 students at the University of Texas at Arlington are finding inspiration in labs, classrooms and studios across campus. Artists are practicing and performing their crafts on downtown stages and in exhibition spaces. Established and emerging entrepreneurs are working towards the next (or first) big thing for their business and for their customers and clients.

Bright ideas born in Downtown Arlington can and should be nurtured here too. That’s why Downtown Arlington Management Corporation has teamed up with LiftFund, ThinkCrowdFund.com and Comerica Bank to present a free event on Tuesday, April 12 for local start-ups, entrepreneurs, innovative small business owners and investors looking for opportunities to raise and invest capital locally.

“Fostering start-ups and small businesses is important to Downtown Arlington's continued growth,” said Tony Rutigliano, president and CEO of Downtown Arlington Management Corporation. “In particular, attracting and retaining young, talented graduates from UTA is critically important for our future.”

Bringing people together

Whether an entrepreneur is launching a startup or looking to expand a current business, it can be challenging to raise capital. If an investor is interested in finding new opportunities, keeping abreast of regulations and finding the right small business investment can be daunting.

From product launches to political campaigns, since the late 1990s savvy entrepreneurs and investors have been leveraging the power of modern-day crowdfunding. According to Forbes, crowdfunding is “the practice of funding a project or venture by raising many small amounts of money from a large number of people, typically via the Internet.”

Designed for both the business community and non-accredited investor community, the Arlington Equity Crowdfunding Town Hall will introduce you to leading equity crowdfunding portal executives who will demonstrate their crowdsourcing platforms. You’ll also learn more about Regulation Crowdfunding (SEC) and Texas’ intrastate equity crowdfunding regulations (Texas State Securities).

“We're thrilled to collaborate with Tony and DAMC to offer this town hall in Arlington,” said Cynthia Nevels, senior partner with Integrality LLC and founder of ThinkCrowdFund.com.
