While students and alumni are the stars of the show, everybody can fan up as honorary members of the Maverick Nation during UTA Homecoming Week November 5-12, 2017. Events open to all include the Distinguished Alumni Awards; Homecoming 5K Walk/Run; Golf Tournament; Men’s, Women’s and Wheelchair Basketball games; Volleyball matches; Homecoming street party; parade and more.

Downtown Arlington Homecoming Challenge

Businesses in Downtown Arlington showcase their Maverick pride during Homecoming Week by decking out their storefronts in blue, orange and white. Vote for the most spirited business on the Homecoming Facebook page between Nov. 6 and Nov. 10 at 4:00 p.m. 

U-U-U U-T-A!

The UTA volleyball team hosts three home matches during Homecoming Week including Military Appreciation Night at the Mavericks on Friday, Nov. 10.

Don’t miss the Jim Hayes Memorial Wheelchair Basketball Tournament, an Intercollegiate Division I tournament, on Nov. 10-11. Several of the best players in the country, including Paralympic and USA National Team athletes, will be representing their college or community programs.

Set your GPS for the College Park District on Saturday, Nov. 11, beginning with the Maverick women's basketball game against Incarnate Word at 2:30 p.m. Stay in the spirit (and on Spaniolo Drive) for the annual Homecoming street festival, pep rally and parade from 3:00 p.m. until the start of the Maverick men’s basketball game against Loyola Marymount at 7:00 p.m. At half-time, be sure to stay in your seat to see one of UT Arlington’s longest-running traditions: the coronation of the homecoming queen and king.

UTA alumni get the VIP treatment on Saturday, Nov. 11 with special alumni events and offers. Swing, step, race, then swing again

Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity Home Run for the Heart, held on Sunday, Nov. 5, benefits the Texas Heart Institute, UTA Emergency Assistance Fund and the Erica Hochmeister Scholarship. This community-wide event promises an afternoon of family-friendly activities, food truck refreshments and a home run derby.

On Friday, Nov. 10, don’t miss annual NPHC Step Show, a high-energy Maverick Homecoming tradition. Watch UTA’s nine National Pan-Hellenic Council fraternities and sororities compete on the stage in a series of intricate dance steps, vibrant music selections and elaborate show themes.

Get a healthy (and fun!) start to the day on the 11th by participating in either the annual Homecoming 5K Walk/Run through campus or the Homecoming Golf Tournament at Waterchase Golf Club.

Celebrating excellence

A highlight of Homecoming week, the annual Distinguished Alumni Awards dinner and awards presentation takes place Friday, Nov. 10. At this semi-formal event, select individuals are recognized for their remarkable professional achievements, community engagement and loyalty to UTA.

Roger Krone (MS ’81), Raj Nooyi (MS ’78), Mike Rhyner (BA ’81), Teresa White (BBA ’88) and Nafees Alam (BS ’02) will be recognized with alumni honors, while Frank and Jane Alexander will receive the Distinguished Honorary Alumni award. Get your tickets early.
