Classic Car Show Returns to Downtown Arlington
With over 150 cars, the Downtown Arlington Classic Car Show will return to the Vandergriff Town Center on Saturday, June 1st from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Last year’s event saw over 120 cars, various local car clubs, and over 3,000 visitors.
“Last year’s show was a blast and so successful. I’m really looking forward to seeing all the cool cars again this year!” Arlington Mayor Jim Ross said.
Accompanying these classic cars from the early 20s to late 70s will be music, food vendors, a kids activity area, and student-made cars from UTA Racing. The event is free and open to the public. “It’s an event for the whole family, young and old, car experts or novices,” said Maggie Campbell, Downtown Arlington Management Corporation President and CEO. “We want people to come to enjoy the classic cars, music and food and stick around to explore all that downtown offers.”
During the car show, the Arlington Public Library will host an indoor family-friendly event called "Discover Summer" from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a “Characters and Cars” theme. Attendees can enjoy the Discover Summer Kickoff and take a break from the heat amidst the car show.
Awards will be handed out at the end of the show for the Top 10 vehicles along with the People's Choice and Mayor's Choice Awards. The winner of #1 Classic Car of the Top 10 awards will win two free tickets to a Texas Rangers home game and a one-night stay at the new Loews Arlington Hotel and Convention Center.
This year’s premium sponsor is Ikon Technologies, an Arlington-based employee dealer branded retention platform with No-Cost Lot Management that will “Find the cars, Find the keys” and retain customers. Gold sponsors include the City of Arlington, Arlington Parks and Recreation, Frost Bank, Fort Worth Weekly, and Arlington Today Magazine. Silver sponsors include the Arlington Convention & Visitors Bureau, Peyco Southwest Realty Inc., the Arlington Music Hall, the University of Texas at Arlington, Loews Hotel and Convention Center, Texas Trust Credit Union, and Precision Press.
After the event, car owners and attendees can enjoy local bars, restaurants, and hangout spots like Grease Monkey, J. Gilligan’s, Free Play, Tipsy Oak, and more. For a complete list, visit our searchable directory.
