Carter BloodCare Needs Help from Arlington This Summer

Summer is in full swing and that means  The University of Texas at Arlington is on summer break and busy with fun plans that include watching the  Rangers, trips to  Six Flags and flying down water slides at  Hurricane Harbor. While the fun never stops during the summer in Arlington, neither does the need for blood.  Carter BloodCare needs 1,100 donors every day to meet the needs of community patients. There is a significant decrease in donors during the summer and we need Arlington’s help to maintain a quality and sufficient blood supply this summer.

 Here's How Arlington Can Help:

On July 3 from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.  The University of Texas at Arlington Bookstore will be hosting an event for the community to enjoy. There will be great clearance deals on UTA gear, awesome giveaways (like an Apple iPad), hot dogs and activities for families, such as: bounce houses, balloon animals, and face painting! During this fun event, our team will also be present to take blood donations. All donors will be eligible to win even more cool prizes from Carter BloodCare.

Ways for Arlington to Win Prizes and Save Lives:

By donating one pint of blood, you can save up to three lives when you donate this July, and you will also receive a gift certificate for a pint of  BlueBell ice cream.

The Texas heat has consistently been breaking 100 degrees and what better way to cool down than with some delicious Blue Bell ice cream? All donors will be entered to win several additional prizes. However, on August 1 there will be a drawing for the grand prize winner who will receive a year supply of ice cream. Blue Bell ice cream makes saving three lives even sweeter this July.

Are You Eligible to Donate Blood?

All donors must weigh at least 110 pounds, be in good general health and present a photo ID each time they give. Potential donors can give blood beginning at age 16 with a parent’s consent, and 17-year-olds can give independently. There is no upper age limit for giving. Also, be sure to eat a nutritious meal and drink plenty of water before giving blood.

For more information about donor eligibility and to schedule an appointment for this blood drive, give us a call at 1-800-DONATE-4, or visit our website.
