Canines & Coffee: Where Downtown Arlington’s Dog Lovers Gather
The Doggie Depot in Downtown Arlington has been wagging tails and welcoming visitors for over a year, and there’s something special about a crisp morning spent there, especially with warm drinks and friendly faces. Every second Saturday of the month, locals and visitors alike gather at the Doggie Depot for Canines & Coffee, a laidback morning meetup that’s quickly become a favorite routine for dog lovers across the community.

Hosted at the Doggie Depot, Canines & Coffee is all about starting the day on a positive note. From 8 to 10 a.m., attendees are treated to complimentary coffee, hot chocolate, apple cider, pup cups and dog treats, generously provided by Arlington Coffee Roasters. The result is a welcoming space where neighbors connect, dogs socialize and mornings feel a little brighter.
For Arlington resident Anne, attending with her dog Gigi has become a meaningful monthly ritual.
“It’s hard to wake up in the morning sometimes, and this little event helps us get out of the house, go play in the park, and meet other people in the community,” she said. “The hot chocolate was the perfect topper, and the fact that they had pup cups for the dogs was cute.”
Anne added that while the weather may be chilly at times, the experience is always worth it — especially for Gigi. “Each time we go to the park, she knows that she’s going to get a little treat, meet some new people, and make new friends. She’s getting in the car to go somewhere other than the vet, and she likes it a lot.”
The event’s easygoing atmosphere draws people from all over north Texas. Alex, who visits from Fort Worth, says Canines & Coffee has become one of her favorite ways to start the month.
“Life gets busy and it’s easy to stay home, but Canines & Coffee gives us a fun reason to get up, get dressed, and go enjoy the morning,” she said. “There’s something really special about sipping coffee, standing in the park, and just chatting with other people who love their dogs as much as you do.”

That sense of community is exactly what keeps attendees coming back. “Every time we go, we leave in a better mood than when we arrived,” Alex added. “I genuinely look forward to it each month.”
Kyle and his dog Zoey have been involved since before the Doggie Depot officially opened. “We first learned about it from a friend and started going to all the pre-opening events,” he said. “I like going to Canines & Coffee because it adds a sense of community. Plus, now they’re using different local coffee shops for us to try out.”
Located next to the Downtown Arlington Farmers Market, Canines & Coffee fits seamlessly into a morning of exploring downtown. “Normally we stop by, say hi to all her friends, and then go to the farmers market and hang out or shop with local vendors,” Kyle said. “Zoey’s favorite dog treat vendors are there.”
Enjoy complimentary coffee, hot chocolate, pup cups, and dog treats while connecting with neighbors, letting your dog socialize, and exploring local businesses, parks, and public art in Downtown Arlington.
