Art, music, food, community unite in Downtown for third annual festival

Ask a local for directions to Main Street in Downtown Arlington and they’ll likely reference any number of businesses like Collected Treasures or The Man’s Shop or destinations like Theatre Arlington or the Arlington Museum of Art. But there’s a three-block “bonus” section of Main St. (due north of Shipley Do-Nuts) that’s been attracting creative investment and community-building, including a third-annual festival that celebrates the same.

Welcome to East Main

On Saturday, May 5 from noon until 8:00 p.m., the East Main Arts Festival will create a three-block street scene book-ended by Division Brewing and Urban Alchemy Coffee + Wine Bar on one end and Mavericks Sports Grill and CenterSpace Coworking on the other. Division Brewing will offer a tasty selection of their craft beers while Mavericks serves up their hand-made brisket tacos (full menu also available).

Nearly 90 artisan and vendor booths will line East Main St., including demonstrations of painting, sculpting and pottery. Live music from five stages will feature a wide variety of musical genres.

Organizers also promise a variety of activities throughout the day, including bounce houses for the kids, street performers, a pop-up dog park, mobile pet adoption by Arlington Animal Services, the Arlington Public Library Literacy Mobile, and an outdoor reading room featuring Little Free Libraries. Attendees are invited to donate gently used or new books to the Little Free Library initiative.

East Main Arts Festival is produced by volunteers from Arlington, Texas - Proud To Call It Home. Admission is free.
