Arlington Ambassadors celebrate one year serving and cleaning downtown

In November, our Downtown Arlington Ambassadors hit one year of service in our district. This team has transformed our downtown with their dedication, warmth and community spirit. Our Ambassadors have become an indispensable part of our community, helping keep our downtown clean and safe for all. 

The Downtown Arlington Ambassadors launched with a mission to enhance the downtown experience by providing exceptional hospitality, safety and maintenance services. Over the past year, they’ve gone above and beyond to fulfill this mission. 

1. Enhancing visitor experiences 

The Ambassadors have served as the friendly faces of Downtown Arlington, assisting thousands of visitors by answering questions, providing directions and sharing insights about local businesses, events, and attractions. Whether helping someone find the perfect lunch spot or directing them to a place to park, they’ve ensured every visitor feels welcomed and informed. What sets the Downtown Arlington Ambassadors apart is every team member brings energy, enthusiasm and a desire to make a difference, embodying the spirit of Arlington at its best. Their friendly smiles, readiness to assist and can-do attitudes have earned them the trust and gratitude of everyone they encounter. 

2. Safety first 

Safety is a top-of-mind concern for our Ambassadors. By working closely with local law enforcement and maintaining a visible presence in the district, they’ve helped create a secure environment that our residents and visitors enjoy. Their proactive approach has included offering safety escorts, reporting incidents and ensuring public spaces are well-monitored and inviting. 

3. Keeping downtown beautiful 

Armed with tools, gloves and a passion for service, the Ambassadors have worked tirelessly to keep our downtown area clean and attractive for our residents and visitors alike. From removing litter to refreshing landscaping, their efforts have significantly improved the district’s curb appeal, ensuring Downtown Arlington remains a place we can all take pride in. 

4. Supporting local businesses 

Our local businesses are the lifeblood of the downtown area, and the Ambassadors have been instrumental in fostering connections between these establishments and the community. By supporting local shops and restaurants, they’ve helped drive traffic, ensure cleaner areas and boost awareness, contributing to a thriving local economy.

"It's been my great pleasure to engage with the downtown property owners and business managers, learning their various needs and challenges and determining how to best serve the area to make this a beacon for new businesses and a clean and safe environment for our guests to work, live, shop and recreate,” said Kevin Johnson, Operations Manager for the Arlington Ambassadors.  

"Our journey over this past year certainly started off rather arduous, but we've been gaining momentum as of late,” Kevin said. “I foresee 2024-25 as a year of enormous abundance and growth for the Arlington Ambassadors, and I'm here for it.” 

As we celebrate this one-year milestone, we look forward to the continued growth and impact of the Downtown Arlington Ambassadors program. The past year has been filled with accomplishments, but it’s just the beginning. Plans are already in motion to expand their services, increase their visibility, and continue enhancing the downtown experience for everyone.
