Advancing the Dream: Moving Toward Unity, Justice and Peace
The four-day celebration of the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. returns to the City of Arlington on January 13-16, 2023.
In Downtown Arlington, residents can get involved in four events and activities held in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., including the MLK Advancing the Dream Gala, MLK Poetry Meets Jazz event, Zeb Strong Jr. MLK Day of Service, and the MLK Day of Service Festival.
The 2023 theme is Advancing the Dream: Moving Toward Unity, Justice and Peace. Organized in 1989 and established as a nonprofit in 1990, the MLK Celebration Committee works in partnership with the City of Arlington to plan the city's long-running MLK celebrations. During its 35 years of service, the MLK Celebration Committee has given scholarships to graduating students, donated countless hours of time, and shared enthusiasm and resources with the community while continuing to push forward the message and dream of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
