Your Way

Artist: Jeppe Hein

Acquired in: 2019

Partners: Gene and Jerry Jones Family Arlington Youth Foundation, City of Arlington

Nestled in a linear park between the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library and Arlington City Hall, Your Wayis a dazzling labyrinth sculpture crafted from highly polished stainless steel and aluminum. The mirror-effect of the 32 vertical panels catches the sunlight and reflects the surrounding trees, architecture, and most dramatically, visitors and passersby.

As you weave through the reflective columns and the spaces in between them, the sculpture creates a kaleidoscopic echo of you and your surroundings. With each step and pause you take, the reflection shifts and the familiar becomes new. Because the work responds to movement, Your Way isn't just for viewing. Combining minimalist form that encourages play, humor, and thoughtful reflection, Your Way transforms into an immersive experience, reminding each visitor that your path—your way— is both a personal and shared experience.

About the Artist

Danish artist Jeppe Hein creates art that bridges sculpture, architecture, and technology. Through this blend of minimalist form, playful humor, and thoughtful reflection, Hein creates experiences that are fun, surprising, and contemplative. His goal is to inspire play and engagement, inviting visitors not just to look but to move and reflect. In fact, says the artist, it is visitor interaction that completes the work.

Hein studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen and the Städelschule in Frankfurt. His projects range from mirror labyrinths and walking mazes to twisting benches and responsive water installations. His fascination with mirrors, reflection, and labyrinthine spaces has been applied in a variety of context including urban parks, seating, and garden sculptures. Hein believes that art should invite people to “look–feel–play,” turning everyday spaces into immersive environments that engage the body, spirit, and imagination.
