The idea for En Pointe started as a way to honor the legacy of Miss Persis Studio of Dance. Stunning in black-and-white, a photograph of a ballet dancer mid-turn is punctuated by giant pink ribbons swirling around her, as if they were being carried by the music.

At the time this mural was conceived, Miss Persis Studio of Dance had been operating for nearly 70 years. En Pointe came to life through a collaboration between the dance studio, Downtown Arlington, and 3Di Sign + Design. Each brought something unique to the project—Miss Persis’s deep community roots, Downtown Arlington’s commitment to public art and placemaking, and 3Di’s design and installation expertise.

Through the Downtown Arlington BID Improvement Grant Program, the dance studio and 3Di collaborated to take the custom project from concept to reality. The mural’s materials were chosen because of their durability, a “next gen” billboard that combines vibrant color, crisp print quality, and durable finishes. This highly dimensional design feels alive, celebrating both the beauty of dance and the creative energy that drives Downtown Arlington.
