By incorporating both digital and hand-drawn techniques, renowned mural artist Vizie explores how form, texture, and color interact in large-scale. Over the years, his daughter’s uninhibited creativity has inspired his work including this mural Disco Walls (2019), which is one of a series.
“This work is another take on my disco walls I have been doing,” said Vizie. “With the familiar gridded patterns, gradients, and scribbles, I started to introduce some organic shapes from my daughter’s collages. Much like my use of her spontaneous mark-making, I found the same perfection in the construction of her uninhibited composition. As she gets older and her abilities develop, I want the conversation between her art and mine to evolve.”
About the Artist
Vizie is a contemporary artist whose work bridges the worlds of graffiti, design, and abstraction. Emerging from the street art scene of the 1990s, he first gained recognition for his bold lettering and technical precision. Over time, his practice evolved into a distinct visual language that combines structured grids, layered color gradients, and expressive mark-making.
Originally from Houston, Vizie continues to paint and exhibit internationally. In recent years, Vizie’s compositions have become increasingly personal, incorporating shapes and gestures inspired by his daughter’s artwork. This creative exchange infuses his murals with warmth and vitality, transforming walls into conversations between generations.
