You Are a Star leaps off the wall with theatrical energy! Luis Mendoza’s mural is anchored by a fluid interpretation of Theatre Arlington’s star-shaped logo. Intertwined with the star are the masks of comedy and tragedy, reflecting the theatre’s commitment to bringing laughter and new perspectives through meaningful storytelling. Rays of light and color burst from the energetic center, representing positive impact throughout the community.

Created in close collaboration with the Theatre Arlington team, the mural was designed to be a visual expression of the organization’s mission as one of Arlington’s oldest cultural institutions. Mendoza emphasized how the close partnership helped him design something “different and iconic,” which serves as a visual celebration that’s grounded in placemaking.

"It was great to work with a local artist like Luis to create something for the theatre and the community," said Steven D. Morris, Executive Producer of Theatre Arlington.

About the Artist

Fueled by a passion for public art and collaboration, Luis Mendoza seeks to translate identity and purpose into bold visual statements. He is a versatile artist, designer and fabricator who moves fluidly between graphic design and large‑scale sign and mural projects. With a foundation in visual communication and a Bachelor’s degree in Digital Arts & Design from Full Sail University, his portfolio includes creative work with theatres, businesses, and civic organizations where he maximizes his expertise to create visually engaging results.

In his collaborations, such as with Theatre Arlington, Mendoza emphasizes process and partnership to co‑create pieces that reflect shared vision: the artist brings skill and concept, the community brings memory and meaning. The result is work that resonates, invites participation, and becomes part of the ongoing story.
