Perfect Pairings: Downtown Arlington, Valentine’s Day, Your Sweetie, and You

You two. You’re two peas in a pod. With Valentine’s Day less than two weeks away, you have the perfect opportunity to say exactly how you feel. Where can you find that perfect something for your sweetie, your bestie, your mom, your dad, or that special someone who’s always there for you?

Here’s an idea: forget the online superstoremegaverse. For a pair as perfect as you, get inspired by an unlimited number of pairing options you’ll find right here in Downtown Arlington.

Table for Two

If romance and candlelight is your aim, we suggest pairing a romantic dinner at Restaurant506 at the Sanford House with beautiful art, classical music, or both. The Arlington Museum of Art’s current exhibition, Hiroshige: Fifty-Three Stations of the Tokaido, is getting rave reviews, and re:Introductions now showing at The Gallery at UTA is sure to inspire conversation.

Meanwhile, Symphony Arlington’s Heart Strings featuring violinist Kiarra Saito-Beckman is sure to make you swoon. Other inspired performances preceding Valentine’s Day include Valentines Special by Timeless Concerts, Spyro Gyra at Arlington Music Hall and concerts by the UTA Wind Symphony and UTA A Capella Choir.

Hangin with the Crew

The more the merrier? Start at the Happy Hour at Union Worx Coworking, then head over to Happy Hour Open Mic at Truth Vinyl or J.R. Bentley's Singles Bash (or both!) Finish out the night at Hooligan’s Pub for more Valentine's Day-inspired fun. Can’t wait until Feb. 14 to hang out with your friends? Shelley Segal is performing live at J. Gilligan's Bar and Grill on February 13, which is also Single’s Night at Hooligan’s Pub.

Family Fun Night

Maybe you’re looking for kicked-back family fun. Pair a great pizza from Mellow Mushroom or Old School Pizza and Suds with a night under the stars at the UTA Planetarium. Take your favorite girl to Daddy-Daughter Date Night at College Park Center as the UTA Lady Mavs take on Arkansas Little Rock, or go for the high score on 130+ retro arcade games and pinball at Free Play Arlington.

Unique to You

Shopping for a Valentine’s Gift can be tricky, but in Downtown Arlington, you’ll find lots of unique places to discover a gift that’s as unique as they (and you) are. Music lovers will thank you for shopping at Truth Vinyl and Growl. If she or he is into vintage, be sure to check out Collected Treasures, Timeless Treasures Vintage & More, and Wondrous Works in Wood. Stylish gents know that there’s no place like The Man’s Shop. Gourmands will thank you for gifts from Urban Alchemy Coffee + Wine Bar, Inspirations Catering and the Downtown Arlington Foodies Farmer's Market. Finally, don’t forget to shop at the UTA Bookstore for that special Maverick in your life.
