(GuideLive, March 19, 2019) …Days after Cane Rosso closed in Fairview, north of Dallas, the pizza company’s owner confirms it will be opening in Arlington at a development called Urban Union, about a mile southwest of AT&T Stadium.
Urban Union is a master planned development in Arlington. Tenants include Legal Draft Beer Co., a brewery; The Tipsy Oak, a patio bar; Sugar Bee Sweets Bakery; Cartel Taco Bar; and 4 Kahunas Tiki Lounge. Lone Star Axe Throwing — these are getting popular in DFW — is also opening soon in Urban Union in Arlington.
Owner Jay Jerrier’s original Cane Rosso pizza joint is located in Deep Ellum, and his team now operates restaurants in Frisco, Carrollton, Fort Worth and East Dallas. Jerrier says the coming-soon Arlington development has a flavor that’s similar to existing Cane Rossos.
“I really got a Fort Worth Magnolia and Deep Ellum kind of vibe, where it’s all independent and the buildings are being retrofitted,” he says of Arlington. “It also reminds me of Carrollton because of all the auto-mechanic buildings over there.”
Cane Rosso in Arlington will likely open five months from now, Jerrier says.
The pizza joint will go into a renovated building formerly called Joe’s Radiator Service. Jerrier expects the restaurant to keep the existing brick walls and plans to add a 4,000-square-foot patio.
Eventually, Jerrier says he may open Cow Tipping Creamery, an ice cream shop located near several existing Cane Rosso restaurants. That could be part of Phase II; a spokeswoman for Urban Union says no tenants have been announced at those addresses yet.
Urban Union will be populated with as many as 28 restaurants or shopping spaces, according to a press release. Plans call for apartments, offices, restaurants and retail among 16 remodeled buildings on four blocks. Cane Rosso will be located at E. Front and N. East streets in Arlington.
