Sixty Seconds With: Amy Evans of Board & Brush

What makes Downtown Arlington so special? Community. Our ever-evolving district is made up of entrepreneurs and educators, architects and artists… and we’re just getting started.

In this edition of “Sixty Seconds With…,” we chat with Arlington native and Downtown business owner Amy Evans. She and her husband James opened Arlington Board & Brush Creative Studio in Urban Union earlier this year.

DA:  Are you Arlington born and bred?

Amy:  Absolutely! I grew up here and went to high school right here in Arlington.

Downtown Arlington:  Tell our readers about what Board & Brush offers to its clients.

Amy Evans: We offer instructional wood sign-making. More broadly, Board & Brush is about empowering women to learn to sand, stain and use power tools all while making a wall-worthy piece of art for their homes and offices!

DA:  What’s it like to take a class at Board & Brush?

Amy:  We’re a BYOB establishment that offers a fun and relaxing DIY atmosphere for friends and family.

DA:  How did the idea to open Board & Brush come about?

Amy:  I loved making signs and selling them online. When I discovered this store in Wisconsin, I asked about bringing Board & Brush to our area. My husband and I opened the Mansfield location in April 2016 and the Arlington location this past March.

DA:  What do you like most about being in Downtown Arlington?

Amy: We love the Downtown area and everything it has become. With all the new growth and wonderful buildings and restaurants, especially in this last year, this is the perfect place to be!
